Concept:
This Project was very appealing to me. Maya Angelou is one of my biggest inspirations and to be able to draw her picture was very fun. I didn't really dislike anything about this project. The only thing that worried me was the fact that I was not use to using a mac. Something that is not apparent in this drawing is that the orb behind her represents something like an angel, or someone who has been sent to Earth for a certain reason.
Creativity:
My commitment level to this project on a scale to 1-10 was defiantly a 12 this project was not just for a grade it was to show that this woman is amazing! Like I said this was not a project just for the grade I was doing this project to represent a woman of true talent and beauty. I didn't really use any "old techniques" I did everything on a computer so all the techniques were new to me. I related a lot to this project because I am African American...:)
Craftsmanship
Once I fully understood this project I didn't really develop any ideas, I just went with the flow and went with what felt and look right. Like I said I just went with the flow ad tried to create a really nice, beautiful picture. the process I used while creating this art was just see if things fit correctly and see if things complemented each other in a good fashion. Issues I faced while doing this project were, 1. computer trouble, and 2. the lack of experience I had on the computer. To resolve these problems I asked my peers who were more technology oriented.
Composition
Some elements I used include; line, color, shape and form. Principles included; balance, pattern unity, and emphasis. when I look at this artwork of course it reflects history, but it also reflects personal. The most dominant principle is emphasis, I say emphasis because if you look closely you will see the lines on her face, the lines on her hands, and the details on her broach. The medium I used was adobe illustrator.
Completeness
Some was I changed my artwork after looking at other students artwork were I added many more details, on some of their drawings there was not enough detail. I just do the project and then I go back and I see what I used the most of and then I show how I used it and I explain on how it helped my artwork. I knew I was finished with my artwork when it fully resembled the picture I used. I am Proud of my artwork, this artwork makes me very happy and I'm proud that I had the time to do it!
